Help for advanced search
combinations of search terms in the search mask
At the top of the header you can enter one or more search terms.
-
"AND connection" : By default, search terms are interpreted as AND connections, i.e. all search terms must be included in the result.
Example: The search for ' Hannover Grobe' produces results that contain both "Hannover" and "Grobe". -
"Or" connection : If you connect search terms using the "OR" operation, you get results that contain at least one of the search terms.
Example: The search for ' Hannover OR Grobe' produces results that contain "Hannover" or "Grobe". -
"NOT link": Searching for results without a term can be done by preceding the term with a minus sign (-).
Example: The search for ' Hannover -Grobe' produces results that contain the term "Hannover" but not the term "Grobe". -
Word groups : If you want to search for specific word groups, you put the search term in quotation marks (" ").
Example: '"Hannover stamp"' leads to results that contain exactly this expression.
Search for product categories
- To the right of the search field you can restrict your search to the product categories defined there - e.g. search only in auction catalogs.
Example: If you search for the term ' Grobe' and search for 'Books and Brochures' For example, if you restrict your search, you will receive manuals from Hans Grobe, but no auction catalogues from Grobe.
use of filters
- Once you have selected a subject area in the menu or viewed the results of a search, you can further restrict your search using the filters at the bottom left.
Example: I have selected the Old German region "Hannover". Now I can further filter the displayed results (e.g. only auction catalogues within this region).
Search for specific content
- If you have the philabooks article number (SKU) you can simply enter it in the search field.
- If you only want to search in the title (and not in the product description), you can prefix the search term with 'title:'. Example: 'title:Grobe' only returns results where the term 'Grobe' is included in the title.
- If you are looking for an author , you can simply type the name (or part of the name) into the search field and additionally set the filter to the category "Books & Brochures".
- Search for catalogues of an auction house : To do this, enter the name of the auction house (or part of the name) in the search field and additionally set the filter to the category "Auction catalogues".
(Alternatively, see " Special Searches -> Auction Catalogs ").
