US Post Office Department, The Annual Tables of Exchange Rates and of Rates of Postage to the US 1881-1953, tabular directory of the US Post Office, 186 pages, simple paperback copy of the rare original. Contains the UPU rates for letters, postcards, printed matter, registered mail and return receipt for all UPU member countries! The work was used by the American Post Office to check the correct franking of incoming mail. Not included are special rates for individual countries that were not considered for the USA. Otherwise a unique reference work!
Later lists also contain additional tariffs, including airmail surcharges. Important reference work for determining and understanding franking rates, particularly for more unusual areas for which there are no other documents/publications.
A must for postage collectors anyway, especially since the exchange rates for the gold franc (international postal currency) were also given for each year. #44797
