Schracke, Karl: History of the German field post in the war of 1914/18, 1921, quality reprint of the rare and important work on the German field post 1914-18, 345 pages, with 8 partly fold-out maps of the war zones. Written on behalf of the Reich Postal Ministry by Ministerial Counsellor Karl Schracke. Schracke himself worked for 3 years in a leading position in the field post, including as senior field postal inspector in the East. He also had access to the 800-volume collection of field post files during World War I, as well as numerous other documents and publications that may no longer exist today or only partially exist. The organization of the field post, the field post in the 'West' and 'East' theaters of war, the newspaper industry, packages, mail from prisoners of war and forced laborers, the German field post in the occupied territories and in the German colonies are presented in detail.
